PSIA-AASI Awards More than $60k in Scholarships

More than $60,000 in scholarships have been awarded this season, benefiting 10 schools and almost 100 individuals.

The Education Foundation provided scholarships for four different tracks which include the Nancy Oakes Hall Women’s Scholarship, the Small Snowsports School Scholarships, the Certification or Specialist Education Track Scholarship, and the Veteran Workforce and Education Track Scholarship. All scholarships help PSIA-AASI members and member schools reach their professional development goals.

“The creation of the Education Foundation and these scholarships programs has helped PSIA-AASI better understand the needs of our members and support their growth,” said PSIA-AASI Chief Executive Officer Nicholas Herrin. “The best part of these scholarships is that they encourage engagement and directly enhance members’ opportunities to take clinics across the divisions.” Learn more about PSIA-AASI’s Education Foundation.

Nancy Oakes Hall Women’s Scholarship

This scholarship program empowers distinguished women in snowsports education by providing opportunities to engage with peers and advance their professional development. Founded by and named in honor of Nancy Oakes Hall, a former PSIA Alpine Team member and Aspen/Sun Valley instructor, the program awards three separate scholarships each year to female members of PSIA-AASI who wish to pursue continuing education and growth opportunities in the snowsports industry.

Small Snowsports School Scholarships

This scholarship provides small PSIA-AASI Member Schools with access to educational events and education leaders, such as PSIA-AASI National Team members, who provide experiences that may be career-changing for instructors.

Certification or Specialist Education Track Scholarship

This scholarship awards members and non-members with funds to pursue a certification or specialist education track. This scholarship helps individuals become better teachers by pursuing education to help them achieve the standard for personal performance, teaching, professional knowledge, and technical skiing and riding skills.

Veteran Workforce and Education Track Scholarship

In partnership with the 10th Mountain Division Foundation, this scholarship program awards active and non-active military PSIA-AASI members and non-PSIA-AASI members with an education opportunity that supports veterans as they transition to and pursue a career pathway in the outdoor industry.

Scholarship Recipient Shares His Freestyle 1 Story

Northwest Division instructor Jimmy Brokaw shared a YouTube video about how he used his scholarship to earn his Freestyle Specialist 1 credential.
