PSIA-AASI Welcomes The North Face as a New Official Supplier

Starting on July 1, 2020, PSIA-AASI welcomes The North Face as their outerwear and baselayer Official Supplier to provide members with the industry’s most innovative performance apparel and gear, which also includes footwear, tents, packs and sleeping bags. As a champion of exploration for more than 50 years, The North Face is committed to introducing the next generation of athletes to snowsports safely and responsibly. This partnership will help support PSIA-AASI’s education initiatives so members can continue to find success working as instructors as they help others learn to ski and snowboard.

“Ski and snowboard instructors spend their days outdoors, and it’s important they have the confidence that their performance gear will keep them comfortable in a range of elements. This partnership will give our members access to the best gear to explore the mountain environment while they train the next generation of skiers and snowboarders,” said PSIA-AASI CEO Nicholas Herrin.

Herrin also add that the partnership is a natural fit because the two organizations share many of the same values, including a commitment to educating outdoor enthusiasts. “As the official uniform and apparel provider for many ski resorts, our members can experience the same quality gear found in uniform kits across the country,” he said. “The North Face supports our education initiatives, will provide our PSIA-AASI National Team with uniforms and we’ll be working together to develop educational programing that will help more people access the outdoors and enjoy the sports we are passionate about.”

“Ski and snowboard school programs are a foundation of great mountain athletes,” says Scott Mellin, Global VP of Mountain Sports at The North Face. “Safe, well-organized entry into the sport is imperative to ensure a quality experience and retention of the next generation of mountain athletes. We’re investing in this mission by equipping today’s instructors with the best gear so that they can do their job in maximum comfort and protection.”

A Shared Commitment to Sustainability and Diversity

PSIA-AASI members can also expect to learn more about The North Face and the brand’s commitment to sustainability and diversity through upcoming 32 Degrees articles, news stories on thesnowpros.org, and future events. They will also see PSIA-AASI National Team members outfitted in The North Face apparel.

Like PSIA-AASI, The North Face is committed to preserving the winter environment for future generations so that they can continue to recreate in the mountains and enjoy winter sports. For example, some of their sustainability efforts include using eco-friendly materials, such as recycled polyester, and a commitment to using 100% renewable energy in their operations by 2025. The North Face’s “Renewed” line takes previously-worn and retuned items and refurbishes them so the garments are ready to be used again.

The North Face is also committed to creating safe and welcoming environments that support inclusion and diversity. In 2018, The North Face committed to representing men and women equally in their advertisements. Together, The North Face and PSIA-AASI will work together to protect the places we love and encourage more people to enjoy these spaces.
