KEEN Effect Grant Gets Kids Outside

The KEEN Effect Kids Grant program, from PSIA-AASI Official Supplier KEEN, has helped 1,800 kids across the country get outside in the last year.

While that’s only .002 percent of the 74 million kids in this country, the brand believes it will impact and inspire the kids who participate in grant funded programs to help change the world.

“Like microscopic orchid seeds (some tinier than dust) seeking the canopy of the tallest tropical rainforest trees, the epiphytes of our grant program will sail the wind, climb the trees, drink the rain, establish roots, and emerge as some of nature’s most beautiful ideas,” wrote KEEN Philanthropy Manager Mark Steinbuck in a post about the program on the KEEN Community Blog.

Touting the wisdom that it’s “Best to believe that small can be powerful,” Mark said that the goal of the program is to get kids outside during this summer to spend time healing in the outdoors.

The KEEN Effect program, which is now in its 8th year, supports everything from camping trips for kids with cancer, local garden projects, education on traditional indigenous practices and cultural teachings, outdoor stewardship awareness while rafting, hiking, mountain biking, and much more.

Every KEEN boot, sandal, or sneaker purchased has a positive effect, funding programs to make the outdoors more accessible to all. This includes the KEEN footwear PSIA-AASI members can purchase for themselves and kids at member-specific pricing.
