New Alpine Skiing Fundamentals E-Learning Course is Live
The Alpine Skiing Fundamentals e-learning course is live. This brand new course, written by PSIA Alpine Team member Matt Boyd, presents an in-depth review of the fundamentals, along with a look at their history and development.
Watch Boyd and Alpine Team member Ann Schorling provide an overview, then register for the course, which costs $40 for members. Upon completion, you earn two continuing education units.
Boyd said the course helps bring the Skills Concept to life to design better learning. He said, “As we begin rolling out e-learning courses, it is hard to imagine not having the fundamentals that form the base of great skiing at the forefront.”
He added that, “These fundamentals are the base for everything we do on skis, and everything we teach to skiers. Having a firm grasp on them is necessary as American instructors.”
The course is presented in individual modules, which:
- Explain the evolution of the Alpine Skiing Fundamentals.
- Provide an in-depth view of the fundamentals.
- Explain the relationship between the Alpine Skiing Fundamentals and the Skills Concept.
- And explain the relationship between the fundamentals and teaching.
Each module will also start with an explanation of learning outcomes so you know exactly what you’re supposed to learn. And conclude with a brief check for understanding.
